What is a Learning Management System (LMS)?
A learning management system (LMS) refers to the course “shell” you will be using for the online parts of the course. Every university has their own system.
Some teachers use their LMS just to input grades and post their syllabus and deadlines, but an online course requires a robust design with plenty of redundancy and many technical considerations. Fortunately, we have created this Common Course Cartridge, which should import most content into your LMS with reasonable accuracy.
However, we recommend doublechecking the course content for each Module by downloading the file from this course from our Zenodo. You may need to reconstruct some of the content if the two LMS’ don’t “speak” to each other correctly. You can find the link to the Zenodo files here. Links to an external site.
If you want to innovate your own content, we recommend keeping the basic structure we have provided here in terms of the course architecture, as we have based it on current best practices in online learning
