Welcome to ROCKET!

ROCKET is an innovative project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnerships program. It seeks to develop a working concept for Critical Virtual Exchange which implements Role-Playing Games and Conflict Transformation. These novel modes of online interaction can aid participants to take on new perspectives and gain a deeper understanding of issues relating to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. In addition to students, the initiative offers educational formats aimed at teaching and administrative staff. Conceived by the universities of Göttingen, Groningen, and Uppsala, ROCKET seeks to improve European Higher Education while also connecting to local communities.

ROCKET addresses the topic of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) as its main priority in accordance with the Erasmus+ funding line. With a focus on Higher Education, ROCKET aims to implement DEI standards on all project levels.

Virtual Exchange (VE) illustrates a teaching practice in which students from different cultures and/or locations come together in a digital space over a sustained period of time and jointly engage in educational activities, interaction, and reflection.

Role-playing games (RPGs) are powerful pedagogical tools in which players co-create fictional scenarios while enacting characters. It is commonly used in trainings designed for learners to practice skills in addressing conflict.

Conflict transformation is a perspective that views conflict situations as vital starting points for change processes that positively impact all parties through mutual respect, nonviolent communication, and collaboration.

ROCKET places special emphasis on bringing together not only three universities, but also three institutions. Pursuing a whole-school approach, the project connects students, lecturers, administrative staff, and local stakeholders. All target groups are invited to participate in the co-creation process. In an effort to humanize education, ROCKET values social and emotional learning, intercultural interaction, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
