Accessible Colors, Font Size, and Layout
Teachers sometimes find it fun to play with colors, font size, and layout. Unfortunately, many students struggle with seeing specific colors or reading small font. Low contrast between the background and the foreground text can also cause difficulties. Anything that is intended to be conveyed visually rather than explained in text can be challenging.
As discussed under the documents section of this Module, complex layout can confuse screen readers and even render some text undetectable. We recommend finding accessibility checkers online for colors and other layout factors, which can assess and/or provide advice on how to make your visual design more accessible.
