Reflection Journal 1: Identifying Positions, Interests, Feelings, and Needs
Review all materials except the ones about Conflict styles from the Conflict Transformation – Core module:
- * Presenting Issues and Triggering Events
- * Positions and Interests
- * Emotions and Feelings
- * Basic Human Needs
- * Nonviolent Communication and “I” Statements
Then, answer the following questions with 1 paragraph each (remember the general guidelines: A paragraph is 4-6 sentences, You need to send in your answer before you can see the answers from the other participants):

- Describe a position you have encountered in your course so far, for example on a topic related to critical virtual exchange, diversity, equity and inclusion, or role-playing games.
- * Note: You do not have to agree with this position, but please communicate respectfully and fairly about it.
- Describe the interests that may underpin the person’s position, whether stated explicitly or implicitly. Try to focus on what the person has communicated rather than wildly speculating.
- Describe without judgment any feelings that may be associated with the position, whether described explicitly or implicitly.
- Describe without judgment any needs that might feel threatened for the person expressing the position.
